Upcoming Events

Our SPRING 2023 PLANT EXCHANGE will be at 10 AM, Saturday April 15th, in the yard of members Mary Jane Stevens and Bob Meyers.

Location: 3925 Nicholson Street, Hyattsville, MD

(click on address for Directions/Map).

Short business meeting and social time to be followed by an organized exchange of plants including divided native and horticultural perennials, extra annual flower and vegetable starts, extra volunteer native tree saplings, etc. You do not need to be a member or bring anything to participate--we usually have plenty to share.

NOTES: No english ivy, orange daylilies, or other invasive plants.  We encourage bare-rooting any plants that have been in contact with the ground to minimize transfer of invasive jumping worms.  After unearthing your plants, use a bucket of water to remove all or most soil from the roots.  Barerooted plants can be transported in damp paper towels or newspaper, or in containers of water.
Walk, bike, or carpool if possible; walk down the driveway to the backyard to find the meeting.  There is on-street parking (note--Nicholson is a narrow street, advised to pull in your side mirrors).
The driveway can be used, one car at a time, to load up your new plants after the meeting.

Upcoming at George Washington's Mount Vernon:
